Istorija Nikitija

Nikiti as a holiday-destination was first discovered in the late 50s by the people from Thessaloniki. Tourists from western European Countries followed later on. Since the 80s Nikiti is touristic established and the area shifted its commercial focus on it.In the 13th century most areas in Sithonia belonged to the administrative region of Mount Athos, maintained by various monasteries. The area around Nikiti fell under the jurisdiction of the monastery Xenophon. A settlement Neakitou was mentioned first time in the 14th century.
